OUR WORK
We compile solid research—including our groundbreaking Family Wage and Budget Calculator—to help government, businesses, nonprofits, and the public understand how jobs that support families historically have been generated and how we can generate these jobs now and into the future. The payoff for Minnesota is expanded prosperity and a reduced future burden on state and local resources as the family-supporting wage, rather than assistance, comes to provide for the bulk of family needs.
Economic Literacy
We provide statewide and regional research and popular education on the cost of living, the number of job vacancies and jobseekers, and the number of jobs that pay a family-supporting wage.
Job Policy
We provide research and advocacy in support of family-supporting wages. We seek to promote fair wages and benefits and respectful working conditions for all Minnesotans and to improve the detail and accuracy of Minnesota's official employment data.
Job Creation
We provide research and advocacy on strategies for job creation in urban and rural Minnesota.
Strong Safety Net
We provide research and advocacy in support of government and nonprofit social service providers throughout the state.
